What a wild rollercoaster of a session it was! Kimani's mom contacted me months in advance to book their session. They were traveling from Tallahassee to Miami to visit family and had planned to stop along the way. We only had one chance to make it happen.
But as luck would have it, on the day of our session, it started pouring rain like a typical May day in Palm Beach. We kept an eye on the weather and exchanged texts throughout the day, trying to figure out what to do. In the end, we decided to go to the location and hope for the best.
But the rain didn't stop. And to make things more challenging, they got stuck in traffic and the sun had already set. Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, I had come prepared with all the necessary equipment to shoot in the dark, rainy weather. I knew it would be tough, but little did I know how amazing it would turn out!
I can't praise this family enough for their flexibility, bravery, and sense of adventure. They truly made this session one of my all-time favorites! The resulting images are stunning and speak for themselves.
As a photographer, I love exploring different themes and concepts in my work. One of my favorites is capturing the essence of a mermaid and creating fine art photographs that feel like fairytales come to life. This session, with its unique circumstances, provided the perfect opportunity to blend these elements together.
I hope you enjoy the photographs from this mermaid-inspired, fine art session. It was a testament to the power of embracing unexpected challenges and making magic out of any situation.
